Quite A View of The Lake Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

HawkinsNest: Missing cache, muggle traffic and overgrown area make for a poor cache location. It was a good one while it lasted.

Geocache Description:

In 1955, the town of Clarksburg constructed the lake to serve as a backup reservoir to its municipal water supply. The lake, fed by Buffalo Creek and natural springs, was never used for Clarksburg’s water supply. In 1958, the Clarksburg Park Board developed the lake into a public recreation area.In 1998 the lake was closed to swimming bcause Canada Geese were fowling the waters. Now its an abandonded area, you can still see the picnic areas and the old docks.

I have many fond memories of this place as a kid and into my teenage years. Its a place i wish my son could eperience but wil probably never get the chance.

The cache is located at a place with a beautiful view of the lake. There is parking nearby but the oilfield traffice sometimes use the location so beware of muggles. You will need a special tool to retrieve the cache so please come prepared.
