Geocache Description:

Micro, not too many hiding places at this interesting location.

Sit and think about the story that you are about to hear:
Every now and then it seemed as if the men would have to fly for their lives. Oct 11, 1903, as reported in the New York Times. The water was 8 feet over the dam and the water was eating at the ends, several hundred stalwarts bagged through the night. Wallington down stream was an island. In The City of Passaic few went to their bed that night. A man and a fast horse was made ready for the 4 mile ride, a modern day Paul Revere, who hopefully would make the City and warn before the wall of water crushed everything in its path. The next morning dawned, still dark and wet, but James Wynne the dam superintendent said the worst was behind them as the waters receeded. The flood of October 11, 1903 was the most catastrophic to ever hit the Passaic River watershed.
