This cache is stuffed full of things men love!!
BE CAREFUL OF THE RED ANTS AT WP1!! JUST GO IN, REACH OVER AND RETREAT TO GET THE COORDS, DO IT QUICK AND YOU WILL BE FINE! This cache is near a place I like to visit when I go to a campground in Topanga State Park that a lot of people don’t even know is there. Although the real Cache is not in the campground, this is the route that's easiest. There are lots of caches up here, so come in from anyway you like, even spend the night if you like. The quickest way is the Musch Camp Trail at the north side of the parking lot at N34 05.612 W118 35.245 in Trippet Ranch. You will pass a pond, the trail continues off to the right after this. You will cross a small bridge and then continue slightly uphill the rest of the way, lots of stepping up rocks and "stairs". If you do this at dusk to dawn, you will hear the coyotes yappin. The first part of this multi is very close to the camp. There is a very nice restroom at the camp, as well as water, sinks & garbage cans (CITO, hint hint). This is a magnetic hide-a-key with the coords to the “MANS” cache in it. This is .9 miles in, 20 minutes at a decent pace. Walk another 50’ past this to find a beautiful natural desert garden-like area. Be careful of the red ants and a sharp bush on the way though! The purpose of this multi is to bring you to this rare Santa Monica Mountain campground (just in case you came from Eagle Rock). The original area the final stage was going to go in is now closed for plant rehabilitation, so I put it elsewhere. It is about 50’ from the trail. No real bushwacking is required. This part is .3 miles more and another 10 minutes. Figure an hour and a half for this one. Watch for poison oak, ticks, lions and rattlesnakes, I've seem em all here.

I put as much "MANLY MAN" stuff in this camo'd ammo box as I could possibly fit, this thing is almost a full tool kit. This IS a theme cache, so PLEASE stick to the "MAN" theme if you do trade items.
The original cache contains log and pen, The Superman Travel bug , a FTF bag containing $1.00 and a homemade FTF window sticker along with 4 other homemade GC related decals, a camera for the finders to take a pic, 3 various C-clamps, Coke bottle opener, 1 set 3 1/2" hinges, 1 needle nose pliers, 1 linesman’s dikes, 1 50" metro, 1 small padlock, 1 mini-vice, 2 Cito containers, 1 1/2" craftsman combo wrench, 3 Phillips screwdrivers, 1 golf ball, 1 8 pc. Allen wrench set, 1 5 pc. folding Allen wrench set, 1 plastic knife, 1 calculator, 1 Marlboro multi-tool, 1 20a-125/250v locking plug, 1 small flashlight (press on back), 1 faucet repair kit, and last but not least, 1 4 1/2" grinding wheel. Whew!! PLEASE STICK TO THE THEME!! Have fun, take your picture, log your name with the number on the camera and post it if it is full. I will post the pictures and replace the camera!!!!

I'm making a tour of the Trippett area to pick up some caches I missed before, and they're some of the best. This one took me along a familiar stretch of the BBT in an unfamiliar direction, and not the easy direction either. #1 is wet, but no harm done. It's also close to [pedantic mode on] the last sign in California to spell "barbecue" correctly [pedantic mode off] and to the first paw print I've ever felt I could identify with certainty as mountain lion. Yes, a good afternoon on the trail.

I'd been caching around Trippet last year, but never made it to Musch. This is a nice camping area and I hope to come back.

This was my last planned cache for the day, and I was hoping to make it back to my car before the forecast rain started. But that didn't work out. A light rain started as I approached the second stage. So I put on my el cheapo poncho (which worked great) and hiked back to my car past Eagle Rock and down to Cheney Ranch Road trail head in the rain. Actually, it was rather pleasant. Thanks for the adventure.

We have been looking at Manly Man for a while now trying to figure out the best way to tackle this one as part of the required Backbone Trail caches. Initially we went through an open gate that put us directly near WP1 but realized that the gate was only for the park ranger and shouldn't have been open. Whoops. But we asked for help and eventually parked our car further down the hill at N34 05.983 W118 35.213 and hiked the short distance up. Also, if you have a 60CSx don't trust the GPS follow road function, it put us going through someones private driveway (Prier Road).

Once we were are on our way the hike was great, find WP1 easily and continued on around to the cache site. Great view and nice cache. Took a frog (sorta manly) left Hot Wheels AMC 403 muscle car (super manly) Also, the cache camera is out of film so we're posting a pic on our log entry. TFTC

Found these two today while exploring the Musch Meadows Trail for the first time. I believe this is the final segment of the Backbone Trail for me to travel. Didn't see any ants at the first location. TFTC!
