Cruz de Runtun TB Hotel Traditional Geocache

If you are looking for a nice, colorful, and entertaining place you must visit Baños de Agua Santa. In this wonderful place you will find a lot of touristic atractions such as waterfalls, rivers, churches, delicious food, souvenirs, night life, and more....

This cache is placed near a big cross which is located at the top of one of the mountains that surrounds Baños (Bellavista viewpoint). You can easily spot this place if you look carefully over the waterfall.

In order to get to the Bellavista cross you have to visit Baños an then take the Baños-Ulba road. Once you reach Ulba you must take a detour to the right direction (see DET1) and take the Ulba-Runtun road (look at the information signs). Once you take the Ulba-Runtun road you have to ascend for aproximately 15 minutes (by car) until you find another detour (see DET2, right direction) which takes you to a secondary stone pavement road. From the last detour to the cross lasts less than a half kilometer.

When you get to The Cross please take some time in order to park your car, view the landscape and the extraordinary view of the city. Also, if you are lucky and the sky is not clouded, you will be able to admire the Tungurahua, one of the most active snow-capped volcanoes in Ecuador.

Once you are ready to find the cache, you have to hike and take a small trail that goes down towards Baños. Not far from the cross, at the specified position you will find the cache!

The cache is a rounded tuppeware-like container and originally included a pencil, a logbook, and a small magnetic hand-painted souvenir from Baños-Ecuador. Please re-hide it very well to preserve this beautiful geocache location.

Note 1: If you don't have a car, or haven't rented one, there are some other kinds of transportation available in Baños. Get on a taxi or take a "chiva" tour.

Note 2: The geocache could also be visited using a trail that starts in Baños at the edge of the Maldonado street (see waypoint START2). In this case the terrain rating increases to 3/5. As I already took this route, soon I will publish the GPS track somewhere in order to guide you ;)

Si está buscando un bonito, colorido y entretenido lugar Ud. debe visitar Baños de Agua Santa. En este maravlloso lugar encontrará muchas atracciones turísticas como cascadas, ríos, iglesias, deliciosa comida, artesanías, vida nocturna y más....

Este caché está puesto cerca de una gran cruz que está localizada en la cima de una de las montañas que rodea Baños (mirador Bellavista). Este lugar puede ser divisado fácilmente si mira sobre la cascada.

Para llegar a la cruz de Bellavista se tiene que visitar Baños y tomar la vía Baños-Ulba. Llegando a Ulba se debe tomar un desvío a la derecha (véase DET1) y tomar la vía Ulba-Runtún (guíese por los letreros informativos). Una vez en la vía Ulba-Runtun debe ascender aproximadamente 15 minutos (en automóvil) hasta que encontrar otro desvío (véase DET2, hacia la derecha) que le lleva hacia una calle secundaria empedrada. La cruz queda a menos de medio kilómetro desde el último desvío.

Cuando llegue a la cruz por favor tómese su tiempo para estacionar el automóvil, ver el paisaje y la vista extraordinaria de la ciudad. También si tiene suerte y el cielo no está nublado, será capaz de ver al Tungurahua, uno de los volcanes nevados más activos del Ecuador.

Una vez que esté listo para encontrar el caché tiene que caminar a lo largo de un pequeño sendero que baja hacia Baños. No muy lejos de la cruz, en la posición especificada encontrará el caché!

El caché es un contenedor redondo tipo tupperware que originalmente incluyó un lápiz, el libro de registro y una pequeña artesanía pintada a mano de Baños-Ecuador. Por favor esconda muy bien el caché para que esta magnífica ubicación sea preservada.

Nota 1: Si no dispone de un vehículo, existen otros medios de transporte en Baños. Tome un taxi o un tour en "chiva".

Nota 2: El geocaché también puede ser visitado subiendo por una senda que inicia en Baños al final de la calle Maldonado (véase waypoint START2). Es este caso el rating de terreno se incrementa a 3/5. Como ya he tomado esta ruta, pronto publicaré una traza de GPS en algún lugar para que sea más fácil guiarle ;)

-- ACTUALIZACIÓN: Aunque el nombre original del caché fue "Cruz de Runtún", lo cambié de nombre a "Cruz de Runtun TB Hotel" cuando noté que muchas geocoins y TBs eran frecuentemente almacenados aquí. Diviértanse con este geocaché!
