For my very first hide, I thought it fitting to use the neighborhood park where I found one of my very first caches (a multi that is now archived). I come here quite often during my lunch breaks when the weather is nice - So much better than the cold confines of the cafeteria!
The park itself provides many opportunities for recreation. It boasts a softball field, tennis courts (with imaginary nets), a sprawling playground, band shell, multiple horseshoe pits, a network of hiking/biking trails, as well as pavilions with ample seating and a lovely view of Holly Gap with Mount Holly and Keller Hill on either side. It also appears as if they are working on putting in a new v-ball pit, too. What really surprised me about this park is the fact that it covers about 25 acres...not too shabby for being so unobtrusive!
You are looking for a small shipping container which originally held some electrical components for my line of work - Instead of throwing it away, I thought it would be perfect for a cache! Started it out with some miscellaneous swag that I found rolling around in my car and a golf pencil. Spent the better part of an hour averaging the coordinates, but the signal bounce here is ridiculous...Using a Garmin Legend, I was getting approximately 10-15 foot accuracy at GZ. Oh well, that'll just add to the thrill of the hunt!
***Feel free to let me know if you have better coords, or the rating is off - After all, it is my first one ***
As always, use your good discretion and be as stealthy as possible - Especially during ball games and nice days.
Prost!
