The event is on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Willie Chavez Park in Belén.
The above coordinates are for the front gate--please proceed to the group shelter in the extreme southeast corner of the park. There'll be geocachers around beforehand, but the event will start at 10:00 sharp!
This is your third annual excuse for coming to cache in beautiful, rural Valencia County, NM, and to have a fun time with some great folks.
The park is reserved for our use exclusively at no charge for Friday night through Sunday noon, so bring your tent, RV, and bug spray! (Motels are available in Los Lunas and Belén for non-campers, and it's about 45 minutes from ABQ's Big-I...IF you know where you're going!)
I need a count of campers for each night. Please indicate in your "will attend" log.
This is a GEOCACHING EVENT. You will be actively geocaching all day! so it's a great chance to boost those cache find #'s and perhaps score some FTF's.
There will be new, unpublished (yet permanent) caches for you to find during the day, along with about 100 existing caches in the area.
Many, many thanks to the awesome cache hiders for this event! We have twenty brand new caches placed by: mattarms1978, Jam&Jhelley, Team Tuxawuxa, Anne Bonney, cyclegreen, geowalkabout, tealeaf & av8ndv8, and suz55tbird.
Bring lots of water, pack some snacks and lunch, wear sturdy shoes. We'll gather back at the park at 4:00. At that time, we'll hear the adventures of the day and award prizes based on the best poker hand. Did I mention to bring bug spray?
Hartman-Catwoman Team donated the Mystery Grand Prize of a...???, and there are a total of 25 cache prizes that will be awarded, plus 18 geocaching.com prizes, 9 sundry prizes, and 7 packs of geocaching supplies.
Re: Travel Bugs, coins, etc.: I have a horror of TBs disappearing at events, esp. mine, so tealeaf has graciously agreed to manage the TBs + coins for the event. When you come to check in, if you have TBs + coins to drop, find her. She will ensure that they are safe, and that whoever takes them signs for them. So, if you take any, sign them out with tealeaf. Thanks, tealeaf!
Cookout: This is put on by a Girl Scout group. Please plan on joining us for this; you'll miss valuable networking if you skip it!

On Friday evening, we'll have a group supper at Harla May's Fat Boy Grill in Belén, with "GPS-The Movie" being screened at that venue. See GC15PA0 (that's a zero). It'll be a fabulous time, and counts as a separate event! Don't miss it!
The movie will also be shown at dark-thirty at the park Saturday night. You can get $10 tickets at the 'door' from av8ndv8, or contact him ahead of time. Bring bug spray.
Then there'll be a campfire, tended by Team 360, dlcpacman, warrengsr, etc. Let the good times roll!
