Chi of Norway Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

moop: Thanks to a heads up from Cool_easy_cache, I have discovered that the hiding place for this multi's final has been removed. Since no suitable replacement is apparent, I have decided to archive this listing. I would like to thank all those that took on the challenge to find (or try to find) the Chi. It required a lot of work to place, get approved and maintain it but I'm quite satisfied it was worth the effort. moop jr. and I went out this morning to remove all remaining stages.

RIP

Geocache Description:

The Ch'i of Norway runs strong today. Since its founding in the 19th century, the village of Norway has grown into a thriving community. This multi-cache will take you on a stroll through a place where the Ch'i no longer flows through its residents.

St. John's Norway occupies approximately 35 acres at the northwest corner of Kingston Road and Woodbine Avenue. In 1853 Charles Coxwell Small deeded three acres of his land to the Rt. Reverend John Strachan, Lord Bishop of Toronto, for the construction of an Anglican church and churchyard to serve the rapidly growing community of Norway and subsequently Toronto. Over the years the Cemetery grounds have expanded several times reaching its current size in 1925. Today the Cemetery has more than 50,000 gravesites and nearly 80,000 interments. Many early settlers are buried there including members of the Ashbridge family.

Although this challenge can be completed in an hour or so, please take the time to explore this historic place. Feel free to post the coordinates of any plots of interest. Since this is a micro-cache, you will need a pen to sign the log sheet. Unless you have a photographic memory, you will need to print the map below. A digital camera might come in handy too. This is an active cemetery so please show proper respect to the grounds and other visitors. None of the hides are located on any burial or memorial plots. Please replace all stages and final exactly as you found them.

Special thanks to the Reverend Canon Brian Prideaux and the Cemetery Board for granting permission to place this cache. While the staff are aware of its existence, they will not be able to assist in locating it.
