Geocache Description:

Bring your GPSr, the kids, and their fishing poles!  This is a 2.5 acre park in the City of Edgerton with a 2.0 acre fishing pond.  The Edgerton Conservation Club occasionally stocks the pond with a variety of fish.  This is a great place to bring young kids to fish.  Catch and Release is mandatory of all fish and is a city ordinance for this pond.  There is a nice fishing pier, that the club put in a few years ago, which makes fishing access ideal.  Also, there is a well kept trail all around the pond with multiple access points for fishing.

There is also an historic cabin at the park which is significant to Edgerton’s history.  This late 1800’s cabin is from the local homestead of Pauline Jacobus, originally from Chicago, who is a well known pottery artisan and founder of Pauline Pottery. The cabin was moved to this park for restoration and preservation. Along with the city’s well known tobacco business, there were several major pottery companies in the late 1800’s thru early 1900’s that called Edgerton home.  The area  in and around Edgerton produced fine yellow clay which was ideal for the pottery businesses.
