Geocache Description:

Cache is a small cammo'ed lock-n-lock containing a log and some
small swag. The slightly higher difficulty is due to the fact that
the cache might be more difficult for handicapped cachers. As this
is a cemetary cache, please be respectful of any mourners that
might be present and return at another time.

This cache is located within Union Cemetary, which is the oldest cemetary in the city of Hartford. I chose this location because I grew up right across the street from here and still live only a few blocks away.

Because this cemetary has been here for so long, many of
Hartford's founding fathers and their ancestors are buried here.
This is also the resting place of Hartford's unknown soldier.
According to the folks at the Hartford History Room, he was a union soldier returning home from the Civil War. He was staying in Hartford only briefly when he died suddenly. Although his headstone is rather difficult to read, it can be found at N43 18.892 W088 22.962.

There are also several unique headstones scattered throughout Union Cemetary. There is a petrified tree stump headstone, which was a very popular type of stone back in the 1800's. One is located at N 43 18.914 W088 22.998. Finally, there is one stone (and one stone only) that is turned at a 90 degree angle to every other stone in the cemetary. If you can find it, please put the surname in your log entry.
