In den letzten Tagen und Wochen hat sich auf der Event Webseite
viel getan, hier die wichtigsten Dinge:
Es ist uns gelungen einen günstigeren Ort für die cachCON zu
finden. Zusammen mit einer Verkleinerung der Konferenz konnten
wir den Preis für Teilnehmer um fast 50% reduzieren.

Wir haben auch den Vorschlag mehrerer Geocacher aufgegriffen einen
"Dosenwettbewerb" auszurufen: beim
Dosencasting geht es um die Prämierung
besonders origineller Cachebehälter.
Auf der Seite GPS & Geocaching gibt es eine Übersicht
aller GPS Spiele die auf dem GPS Festival ausprobiert werden
können.

Juli
Aufgrund von Kommunikationfehlern unsererseits entstand hier eine
Diskussion. Eine gute Zusammenfassung steht
hier. Inzwischen gab es eine Stellungnahme und Entschuldigung
von Garmin. Unter Absprache mit Groundspeak wurde das ursprüngliche
Cache Lisiting archiviert und wird durch dieses neue Listing
ersetzt um einen Neustart zu ermöglichen. Ein Cache Listing ist
kein Diskussionsforum, bitte Diskussionen ins
Groundspeak Forum für Deutschland oder in andere Deutsche Foren
verlagern.
Nach wie vor hat das Garmin GPS-Festival 2009 viel zu bieten. Jede
Menge kostenfreie Programmpunkte so wie auch einige
kostenpflichtige. Die Teilnahme an diesen ist freiwillig.
Cacher's Paradise auf
Zollverein
Auf dem 100 Hektar großen Gelände auf Zollverein und in der
Umgebung werden wir zusammen mit der lokalen Geocacher Community
viele spannende Geocaches verstecken. Wir lassen auf dem
weitläufigen Gelände mit interessanter Architektur und großartigen
Möglichkeiten für Verstecke einen riesigen Abenteuerspielplatz
entstehen. Alle sind herzlich eingeladen an diesem Wochenende und
auch danach das Welterbe Zollverein zu besuchen, um die Caches zu
heben!

GPS-Village
Hier geben sich zahlreiche Aussteller aus den Bereichen
Outdoorsport, GPS und Geocaching ein Stell-Dich-Ein und locken
mit attraktiven Sonderangeboten.
Kinderprogramm
Für die Kinder gibt es Fezradl, Hüpfburgen, Luftballonmodellage,
Schminken und viele andere kostenfreie Attraktionen!
Meet and
Greet
Über die beiden Tage
und über das ganze Gelände verteilt wird es zahlreiche
Möglichkeiten geben andere Geocacher aus vielen verschiedenen
Gegenden zu treffen und kennenzulernen. Wie bei allen Geocaching
Events ist das sich treffen und austauschen mit anderen ein
wesentlicher Bestandteil.
Neben den kostenfreien Angeboten wird es auch folgende Angebote
geben, die eine Anmeldung erfodern und für die eine Teilnahmegebühr
zu entrichten ist. Mehr dazu auf der Event Webseite

Geocaching
Masters
Physische Fitness, psychische Klarheit, Teamgeist - das sind die
Voraussetzungen für den Geocaching v. Auf dem GPS-Festival können
sich Teams auf einem Parcour messen, der einiges abverlangen wird.
Ein sportlicher Wettkampf, gepaart mit verzwickten
Denkaufgaben.
Und unter Nutzung der durch das Geocaching bekannten Elemente:
Navigation spielt natürlich eine wesentliche Rolle. Aber auch das
“Denken in Koordinaten” ist wichtig, wie auch
Abstraktionsfähigkeit. Nur die Besten werden in der Qualifikation
eine Chance haben und sich im Finale am Sonntag messen. Den
Gewinnern winken natürlich tolle Preise.
GPS und Geocaching
Konferenz
Als Teil dieses Event organisieren die erste GPS und Geocaching
Konferenz, die cachCON2009, deren Planung schon lange vor diesem
Event begann. Die Einführung und "key note" wird von Tom Philips
von Groundspeak auf Englisch gehalten, alle anderen Vorträge sind
auf Deutsch.

During the last days and weeks the event web page has been enhanced
with a lot of information. Please note that this time all
information is available in German only. Some of the latest
information added includes:
an updated program and lowered particpation fee for the
cachCON conference,
a call for participation in a
contest for the best cache container and
a summary of all the
GPS games offered at the GPS Festival
Updates of July
23nd
Due to some miscommunication by us, the event organizers, the
original geocaching event listing became a discussion forum. In the
meantime, Garmin published a (German) statement and apology. In the
interest of starting over with a clear statement regarding this
event, the original cache page is now Archived and this new page
will be the primary geocaching.com page for the event. Please note
that cache listing pages are not to be used as discussion forums.
Accordingly, we ask that discussions relating to this event take
place in the
Groundspeak Forums for Germany or other German forums.
The Garmin GPS-Festival 2009 has a lot to offer for attending
geocachers. There are numerous free offerings, and also some
optional that require a participation fee.
Cacher's Paradise auf
Zollverein
Together with the
local Geocaching comunity we will place numerous new and
interesting Geocaches on and around the premises of the world
heritage Zeche Zollverein. The former cole mine industrial complex
offers a wide range of possibilities for interesting cache hides
and hunts. Everyone is welcome to join us on site during the event
weekend or to visit the area afterwards to go after the caches.
This is free.

GPS-Village
Here many exhibitors will show their latest products and services
around GPS, Geocaching and outdoor sport and will have special
offerings. Attendance is free.
Children's Program
There will be an attractive children program with various free
attractions, including jumping castles and games.
Meet and
Greet
Throughout the whole days and throughout the entire area, you will
have the opportunity to meet and greet all the many geocachers that
will attend this event from all over. Many people will attend from
places near and far, so this is your chance to gather and socialize
with the community.
Besides these free offerings listed above, there will also be a
few offerings requiring registration and a participation fee. More

Geocaching Masters
This competition adds a sportive component to Geocaching. Team
members need more than the regular Geocaching abilities like
Outdoor GPS usage, solving puzzles and finding hides. Here they
also need to be sportsmanlike to have a chance to win the
attractive main prizes. Clues will also be hidden at locations with
difficult access and might require sportive ambition to be reached
within shortest time. Only the best will qualify to participate in
the final for attractive prizes. All sportive parts of the
competition may be viewed by spectators along the way as well as on
a public viewing screen.
GPS and Geocaching Conference
As part of this event we are organizing the first GPS and
Geocaching Conference, the cachCON 2009. The welcome and key note
will be given in English by Tom Philips of Groundspeak. All further
talks will be given in German.
