Geocache Description:

Located in Gilbert Lake State Park, the day use fee between Memorial Day and Labor day is $7 but off season free. Plan a day at the park or a weekend camping trip to enjoy all the park has to offer.

Not too far off the beaten path. Grab a map at the office or use this map and choose your route towards "Lake of the Twin Fawns". The cache is hidden not far off a trail before reaching the lake. The first cache we hid has been looted so we replaced it in a 30 cal ammo can and moved it to a new position nearby in a better hiding spot. This cache started off as a Theme cache, Family fun was the name of the game. Unfortunately when I rehid it I was not able to replicate the kind of items we had placed previously but I guarantee you will not be disppointed, it's loaded with all kinds of goodies. Please log in and tell us a little about yourself.

Keep your eyes open while hiking and you may come across some of the park's natural treasures such as salamanders and fossils. Bring your bathing suits and cool off at the beach at Gilbert Lake or take out a paddle boat and drop a line once you've cached in. The park is not limited to summer activities though, as you can read here. There are many benefits to visiting the park between Labor day and Memorial day such as no entrance fee and no crowds.
