tozainamboku: On a hike through some of the area hit by the Sesnon fire. Although this cache was well outside the fire zone, it seems that Socal. Edison or the fire fighters decided that extreme brush clearance measures were need to protect the power pole. I had though the cache was a safe distance from the pole but the cache was in the area that was stripped bare of brush. We searched a while in the debris and in the areas adjacent to the cleared zone. Unfortunately there was a travel bug in the cache when it disappeared. Rather than replacing this cache we hid several others on the trail today.

Geocache Description:

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away.

The other night dear as I was sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke dear I was mistaken
And I hung my head and I cried.

The Sunshine Canyon Landfill, operated by Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI), has been handling the solid waste disposal needs of Los Angeles City and County for more than 50 years. It is a state of the art urban landfill that meets or exceeds all state and federal safety regulations for solid waste disposal, water quality, and air quality. It's location near the junction of the I-5 and 210 Freeways makes it covenient for trucks coming from all over the county, avoiding long trips to more rural locations.

The cache is a large (50 cal.) ammo can. This would make a great TB Hotel if it were not so far to hike.

Beside the view of the landfill, on clear days, you have a great view of the Valley all the way to Ooper's Cache
