Geocache Description:

To find this cache you must wind your way to the top of Lookout Mountain. The trail is around 5 miles and gains about 4500 feet in elevation. The term uphill was invented to describe this hike.

At the top of Lookout Mountain you will find a very well maintained fire lookout. The orginal one was built in 1929 and torn down in 1967. The current one was built in 1967. The views from the tower are amazing. You can even spend the night in the tower, but it is first come first serve.

The hike took us 2 hours and 49 minutes to get to the top. The cache itself is hidden not far from the tower. Find the rock with the USGS Benchmark and you are very close. If for some reason the cache were to dissappear then you can just sign the logbook in the lookout tower. The cache only contains a log and a pen. Feel free to leave items if you wish.

To get to the trailhead drive highway 20 to Marblemount. Then drive 7 miles east on the cascade river road. Park at the Trailhead.
