After seeing the number of county and map challenges out there, I thought it was time to make a challenge tailored to the inexperienced geocacher. The cache is now at the above coordinates.
The challenge is straight-forward, and can be completed by any cacher, regardless of experience. However, you will soon see that the more caches you have found, the more difficult this challenge may be.
All you have to do is find ten caches. The caches can be anywhere in the known universe. Sounds pretty easy so far.
Each cache must have a number in the title. The number can either be spelled out (i.e. one) or in a numeric format. Numbers 1 through 10 must be represented, and no cache will count for more than one number (which is why you have to find ten caches). The number you need can be contained in another number. For example, if the cache title is 100 Ways to Eat A Carrot, you can use this cache for the number 1 or 10.
Here's where the challenge favors the newbies. You cannot submit a cache that you have found before October 10, 2006, and you cannot find the same cache again after this date. In addition, you cannot use more than one cache in a series. In other words, if I have a series of caches about Jellyfish, and I label them Jellyfish #1, Jellyfish #2, etc., then you can only count one in my "Jellyfish series" for this challenge. If you are unsure as to whether or not a cache is deemed to be part of a series, contact me for clarification. All decisions will be made by the cache owner.
Unlike other challenges, you can include caches placed after October 10 towards your total. However, the first cacher whose submission includes 10 caches placed before this date will receive a bonus FTF prize.
Please note: Effective July 12, 2010, you can find and log this cache once you have found the 10 applicable caches. You no longer need to wait for me to approve your list.
As I expect this to take some time, I have not determined what the FTF prize will be (most likely a presidential portrait). The bonus FTF prize winner will receive coordinates to a special cache. Once he or she finds this cache, the cache will be posted publicly and will be titled in the winner's honor and/or the winner can decide the title.
Any type of cache qualifies, and extra kudos will be given to those who submit multiple types of caches. A bonus prize will be given to the first person that submits five types of caches (prize to be determined).
