Geocache Description:

Join us for Trails Day ~ Sunday June 8, 2014! 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Warming Shed at Northwest Park, Windsor, Connecticut!

Scavenger Hunt and Caching starts at 8:00 a.m.

Scavenger Hunt sheets can be picked up at the Warming Shed from VCrew115.

Lunch and prizes will be enjoyed at the Warming Shed at 12 noon (bring a prize if you can, and bring a sack lunch). Some new caches will be released for the event.

There will be a travel bug table and several people with pathtags to trade. "Charlie's Cache Challenge" containers will be available! See GC3PK24 as an example.

This event will be held rain or shine (if it rains, you can stay dry under the pavilion! If you are dressed for the weather, you can enjoy the park.

Located in historic Windsor, Northwest park is a 473-acre multiple use recreational facility operated by the Town of Windsor, Connecticut. I think it is the best park in the state! It offers an interpretive nature center, 12 miles of trails, maple sugaring, animal barn, community garden, soccer fields, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, dinosaur footprints, a dog park, over 40 caches, lots of letterboxes, a "Braille Trail" for the blind, a gift shop, and much, much, much more.

If you are a Boy Scout and want to work on Geocaching Merit Badge, it will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Warming Shed - please bring your blue card and come in uniform!

Trails Day is part of a larger, state and national effort aimed towards the use and promotion of our parks and trails. Many events will be held throughout the country in June.

We would like to welcome both new and seasoned geocachers to Northwest Park. Come and learn about geocaching, a high tech game of hide and seek using a handheld GPSr to find hidden treasures in the outdoors.

Geocaching is a fun hobby for all ages and walks of life. Caches are hidden throughout the world in many clever, scenic locations. Many great caches are in the park and the surrounding area of Windsor.

Bring a sack lunch and join us as we tell our tall geocaching tales.

This is a family friendly event (no alcohol), dogs are allowed, but they have to be on a leash and under control at all times.

We will have some temporary caches set up for the kids and beginners to try and learn about geocaching.

As is usual for Connecticut this time of year, we will share the park with mosquitoes and ticks, they are out for blood.

Dress appropriately and bring repellent. Make sure you do a tick check afterwards. Poison Ivy is also in season.
