L'ORATORIO
DI SAN VALENTINO:
La storia
dell'oratorio di San Valentino parte dal 1696, anno della sua
consacrazione, poco tempo dopo l'erezione dell'Oratorio di
Sant'Antonio da parte di Giovanni Gobbato.
La chiesetta
fu fatta costruire da Giacomo Sartori detto Casamatta, una tra le
famiglie più notabili del paese, la quale possedeva ormai da mezzo
secolo vari folli ed un mulino sulle rive del Tegorzo. Molto
probabilmente l'idea di questa costruzione fu legata al fatto che
il fratello di Giacomo, don Antonio Casamatta, divenne parroco di
Quero nel 1685. Il culto di S. Valentino nel 1600 era molto
diffuso. Durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale l'oratorio fu in gran
parte ditrutto e venne ricostruito qualche anno più
tardi.
14 FEBBRAIO - LA FESTA
DI SAN VALENTINO:
San Valentino è un martire
romano sepolto lungo la via Flaminia a Roma e qui venerato fin dal
IV secolo. La storia narra che il santo celebrasse i matrimoni di
nascosto e per questo motivo è ora il protettore degli
innamorati
È tradizione ormai
consolidata che i queresi e gli abitanti dei paesi vicini si
ritrovino ogni anno, in occasione della festa di San Valentino, il
14 febbraio, attorno all'omonimo oratorio posto sulle rive del
torrente Tegorzo, sull'antica via che da Quero conduce a Campo. La
tradizione vuole che dopo la santa messa, celebrata all'aperto,
visto che la chiesetta non può contenere la grande folla che
normalmente partecipa al rito, si dà vita al tradizionale momento
del lancio delle arance benedette. È uno spettacolo vedere i
bambini divertirsi rincorrendo le arance che vengono fatte rotolare
lungo il pendio ed alcuni, i più coraggiosi, si lanciano anche
dentro l'acqua del torrente per aumentare il bottino. Alla fine,
per riscaldare un po' tutti, viene offerto ai partecipanti un buon
bicchiere di vin brulè. L'usanza di distribuire le arance benedette
pare sialegata al simbolo del frutto: i fiori d'arancio vengono di
solito portati dalle spose nelle cerimonie nuziali, e agli effetti
benefici che ha l'agrume per la nostra salute.
LA
CACHE:
Il motivo principale per cui ho
posizionato qui questa cache è per i miei ricordi d'infanzia,
quando tra bambini c'era una competizione incredibile per
accaparrarsi le arance. Se vi capita venite il 14 febbraio e
vedrete uno spettacolo gioioso di bimbi e meno
bimbi.
La strada che porta al luogo è molto
ripida, quindi in inverno si consiglia di lasciare l'auto in paese
e fare una breve passeggiata. In inverno, per chi amasse lo
slittino, la strada può diventare un ottima pista
ghiacciata.
Il luogo della cache è un
incantevole luogo immerso nella natura, tra il rumore del ruscello
vicino e il fruscio del vento. È presente anche un angolo per fare
del picnic, attrezzato di tavole e barbecue. Ideale per stare un
po' in relax e al fresco in estate.
La cache è un piccolo contenitore di
plastica che può contenere piccoli
oggetti.

ORATORY OF SAINT VALENTINE:
The story of St. Valentine
oratory starts from 1696, year of its consacration, some time after
the building of St. Antony oratory by Giovanni
Gobbato.
Giacomo Sartori, aka
Casamatta, one of the most noticeble family in town, has built the
little church. Very likely the idea of building this church comes
from the fact that the brother of Giacomo, don Antonio Casamatta,
became the priest of Quero on 1685. The cult of St. Valentine
during the 1600's was quite spread. During the First World War the
oratory was largely destroied and was rebuilt some years
later.
FEBRUARY
14TH - THE CELEBRATION OF SAINT VALENTINE:
St. Valentine is a roman
martyr buried along the “via Flaminia” in Rome and here
beloved since the IV century. The history tells that the saint was
celebrating secretly weddings and for this reason he is now the
protector of lovers
It is a well consolidated
tradition that the people from Quero and the near towns gathers
every year during the celebrations of St. Valentine on February
14th, around the oratory near the Tegorzo river, on the old road
that goes from Quero to Campo. The tradition wants that after the
holy mass, celebrated outside because the little church can not
contain the huge people which normally attends the mass, the
traditional moment of the launch of the blessed oranges starts. It
is a show to see the children having fun running to catch the
oranges which are rolling down the slope and some, the most
courageous, go even in the “winter cold” water of the
river to catch more oranges. Eventually, to warm up all the
attending people, a good glass of brulè wine (sort of boiled wine)
is served. The tradition of distribute the blessed oranges seems to
be originated by the symbol of the fruit: the orange flowers are
usually carried by the brides during the weddings, and by the good
effects of the fruits for our health.
THE
CACHE:
The main reason why I
placed here this cache is by my childhood memories, when between
the children there was an unbelievable competition to catch as many
oranges as possible. If it is possible, come on February 14th and
you will see a joyful show of children and less
children.
The road that
goes to the cache location is very steep, then in winter I suggest
to leave the car in town and go for a short walk. In winter, for
the sledges lovers, the road becomes a very good iced
slope.
The cache
location is a wonderful place within a luxurious nature, between
the noise of the near by river and the wind. There is also a place
for picnic and barbecue. It is ideal for a short relax in a cool
place during a warm summer.
The cache is
a small plastic container which holds only small
items.
