Geocache Description:

The way down the mountain. The Ninth Stage of Opening the Mountain.

Gary Snyder:
Parking lot of Mountain Home. Cars whiz by, sun glare from the west.

Dhâranî for Removing Disasters
Gopala Mantra.

Then, across from the California Alpine Club, the Ocean View Trail goes down. Some yellow broom flowers still out. The long descending trail into shadowy giant redwood trees.

Philip Whalen:

The parking lot, Mountain Home,
Sunset Amida going West
O Gopala and Devaki Nandi na Gopala
with a Tibetan encore for Tara,
Song against disaster.

This cache contains the last number to enable you to find the final in this series and Open the Mountain. From the top, it can be reached from Fern Creek Trail, Old Railroad Grade, and the Hogback Fire Road past the fire station to the Mountain Home Inn. Or you can park very close to the cache. Some like to receite at least part of the Smokey the Bear Sutra here.

Take care if you cross the street to get this cache. The container is hidden very near a public area. Please make sure that it stays well hidden, It should be an easy find, but if you are tired on your way down the mountain, the hint is a "spoiler."

As usual, when walking the mountain, a good map may be helpful. The Rambler's Guide is an excellent map with helpful information and Barry Spitz's Tamalpais Trails offers an authoritative description of all the trails in this series.
