CITO in Germantown Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

The Seanachai: Greetings from Geocaching.com,

As part of my duties, I am archiving this cache as it has been over 30 days since the event occurred. From the Geocaching.com listing guidelines regarding event caches:

"After the event has passed, the event cache should be archived by the organizer within four weeks."

Thank you for taking the time to create and host this event, but it is time for the listing to be archived.

Geocache Description:

Cache In Trash Out (CITO) is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers have been dedicated to cleaning up parks and other cache-friendly places around the world. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve our outdoor resources.

This CITO event will be held in Germantown which is a suburb of Memphis, TN. The staff of the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Germantown has been very supportive of geocaching within the city.

All participants are to meet at the posted coordinates which is the large pavilion in Cameron Brown Park in Germantown by 1 pm. Please come dressed in suitable attire for picking up litter and trash in Germantown city parks which include some heavily wooded areas. We will concentrate our efforts on Cameron Brown Park but may send some volunteers to other nearby parks if enough people come to the event.

At 1 p.m., all participants will receive their CITO bags. After a quick review of the guidelines, everyone will disperse to various sections of the park. Once you have completed your area, report back to the posted coordinates with your trash bag to dispose of it and to sign the log book. All participants are to return by 3:30 p.m.

There are a few things that you might want to bring to make your CITO experience a pleasant one:
- Good waterproof footwear.
- Work gloves
- Water to drink
- A stick with a nail in the end to help pick up paper (saves your back) or something similar
- Appropriate clothes for the weather – like the postman – neither rain nor snow nor inclement weather will stop us
- A big smile, a friendly attitude towards all, and a willingness to do our share.

Be there: at 1 pm on Saturday, April 17th, 2010, in Cameron Brown Park in Germantown, TN!
