Nashville Decoys Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

myotis: Thanks Lancelot for pointing out the decoy was messed up. You were right. It was so bad it was like a typical Nashville Cache. :) I thought about repairing it, but I think I made my point. I even think I made a point to Nashvilleers and that was not even my intent.

Geocache Description:

There are two caches at the coordinates and two logs. There are also 2 decoys at these co-ordinates. You cannot log them. You have to find both micros and log both of them to log this cache. You find them both and you get one log. Hey, this is not Nashville.

Earlier this summer I went to GeoWoodstock in Nashville TN. I soon discovered while Nashville has some great caches, it is saturated with lame caches. There were so many lame caches, it was hard to find something more exiting than a lamppost in a shopping center. I had heard stories, but experiencing it is something else. It seemed like every light post in town had a cache in its base. So many signs had a cache on them it appeared that most signs had a cache on them. I was finding 4-star caches in 10 minutes or less. In one day alone I found over 100 caches. The light post caches were so lame. I prayed to the cache gods that my 1000th find would not be a lamp post (it was a bush in a shopping center). The lame caches were everywhere and they were not in any special place. Mostly a shopping center. You would drive into a shopping center and lift up the base and surprise there was a cache. That got old pretty quick.

I have nothing against easy caches. That is not the issue. Easy does not have to equal lame. One can place an easy cache in a location more interesting than a shopping center lamppost or one can add a twist to make it more challenging than lifting up a lamp post cover. I really like caching in the St. Louis Area since there are so many great caches here-we have so many creative and devious (RGS) minds. I would get upset if the St. Louis Area started converting into another Nashville (i.e., so saturated with lame caches they drown out the good ones).

So I set out to the two things. First I wanted to show how lame caching is when every light post has a cache. So at the coordinates there are two light posts that have a decoy. They look like a typical Nashville cache that I experienced on my trip. (This will enable you to get the Nashville experience without going to Nashville.) But this is NOT Nashville. So you cannot log the decoys.

The decoys identify the two light posts that I have hidden two micro caches on. This is NOT Nashville so in order to log this cache, you must find both micros.

The second thing I wanted to do was to try to find a more challenging way to hide a cache on a light post. I thought of two ways. I hope they will be more challenging than a typical light post cache.

How this works: There are two decoys hidden in light posts on the edge of the parking lot. The one with the small container will be called the Small Decoy Cache. The decoy is a grayish container with a lid that pops out. There is a Geocache Site Please read in it-It is not the log for the cache. You will likely find it first as I took the coordinates for it. This cache is a multi. There is another micro cache on the light post that has the coordinates for a final cache which is a small tupperware container (It is the old final container from Myotis Strike Back). There is a neat spot nearby where you can visit.

The Large Decoy Cache is in the next light post on the edge on the road side. It is a transparent orange pill bottle. There is a Geocache Site-Please read letter in it-It is NOT the log for the cache. There is a second micro on the light post. It has a log but it is way to small for a pencil. So bring your own.

You can log this cache if you find the final to the Small Decoy Cache AND the Large Decoy Cache micro and sign both logs. This is not Nashville, so you have to find and sign both logs to log this cache.

To review, the first pole has a decoy and another micro with the coordinates to the final. The light pole next to it has another decoy and a second micro with a log. In order to log this cache, you must find both caches. If you only find one, you cannot log it. And you only get one log if you find both. Remember, this is not Nashville. Things are harder here. The Decoys will be simple to find, but since this is St. Louis, you cannot log the decoys.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It has been reported that there are bees in the woods in the vicinity of the cache. The cache is withing about 15 feet from the edge of the woods and it is easy to spot with the hint. So make sure you approach from the field NOT the woods.

NOTE TO THOSE FROM NASHVILLE: Since this has created such a stir from some in Nashville, I will point out this cache is not directed at you. It is my statement on lame caches in the St. Louis area.
