Geocache Description:

A tree within a tree? On the altoona bike path? Who would have guessed it! There are plenty of ducks and geese in the area during the warmer months of the year if you bring bread they just might talk to you, please dont scare or harm them!

FTF: on @

On August 27th, 1927, famous aviator and national hero, Charles A. Lindbergh, dedicated the Altoona Airport. Earlier that year, Lindbergh made the first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in his "Spirit of St. Louis" airplane. Lindbergh's visit to the Altoona Airport had one of the largest turnouts in central Iowa history.

The Altoona Airport was the center of aviation activity in Polk county until 1933, the Airport was located where Adventureland is today. It was Iowa's first municipal airport

The Ducks and Geese have established their own airport here at the pond, take time to reflect and enjoy the serenity of the area.
