Taishido Hachiman Shrine

Shrine dedicated to the God of War Hachiman

(Although often called the god of war, he is more correctly defined as the tutelary god of warriors. He is also divine protector of Japan and the Japanese people.)
Shrines dedicated to Hachiman are the second most numerous type of Shinto shrine after those dedicated to Inari.

に創建されたものと思われる。江戸期には、天領・大名領・旗本領に細分化されていた太子堂村は、八幡様の祭礼を以って心を一つにしたと言われ、その心は今日にも受継れている。
