Traverse City State Psychiatric
Hospital
The grounds and walls of the old Traverse City State Psychiatric
Hospital doubtless would have many stories to tell if they could
talk. Probably mainly forgotten, many of these stories likely would
be sad and poignant. Despite the passage of time some stories are
remembered and, in fact, are happy ones. This cache remembers such
stories of two state hospital residents, one living and one dead,
who are memorialized on the grounds.
To "unlock" the secret of this cache, you will need to gather
data from markers about these two residents. These
markers/memorials are located within a short walking distance
nearby on Red and Silver Streets. Solving the puzzle will require
multiplying the age at death of the deceased individual (ignore
fractions of years) by the height in feet of the living
individual:
Age(yrs) of deceased individual X Height(ft) of
living individual = puzzle clue.
The coordinates listed above are close to, but not precisely
at, the cache. The cache is about sixty feet away and is
clearly visible from the starting point. The cache is on the
opposite side of the street from nearby structures, is small, and
will only accomodate small geotrade items.
Have fun!
