Geocache Description:

This cache has been relocated within the pretty village of East Hagbourne a short distance from Didcot in South Oxfordshire, the waypoints have been retained but some of the questions have altered.
There has been a settlement at the site since at least the 10th century and the village is mentioned in the Doomsday Book where a church is recorded at the site. In more recent times it has been awarded Best Kept Village in Oxfordshire on four occassions.
In July 1975 the village was the setting for an episode of Doctor Who called Android Invasion where it performed as the fictitious village of Devesham.
The real village is filled with many black-and-white timber framed houses which date back to the 17th century. There is a pleasant church and a magnificent ancient village cross. Only a few years before the Great Fire of London (1666), East Hagbourne had its own terrible fire, which destroyed most of the houses. The population of London held a collection to raise money to help the Hagbourne homeless and, after 1666, the Hagbourne-ites sent money to London to return the kindness!
The village roads are fairly quiet most of the time but become busier during work commuting times and caution should be taken when crossing them. Below are a list of waypoints in my suggested order of visit although not essential, but I would advise visiting the sub station last.

The cache is a 330ml screw top container with small items to trade, please ensure that the cache is not visible from the path when relocated.

WP1 – N51° 35.552 W001° 14.116 – Subtract the Didcot mileage from that of Harwell’s this will give you the answer to C.

WP2 – N51° 35.474 W001° 14.321 – Add together the four digits of the year when the village won this award for the third time to find A.

WP3 – N51° 35.470 W001° 14.394 – you should now be at Sundial House where the sixth number from the left will give you the answer to F.

WP4 – N51° 35.468 W001° 14.433 – Hopefully you are now outside the Fleur-de-lys and the number of paint brushes will give you the answer to E.

WP5 – N51° 35.418 W001° 14.573 – At this impressive memorial you need to subtract one from the last digit of the carpenter’s age when he died to find the answer to D.

WP6 – N51° 35.524 W001° 14.511 – The number of the house on your left as you exit Shoe Lane will give you the answer to B.

WP7 – N51° 35.516 W001° 14.461 – The first digit of Crumble Cottage’s house number is the answer to G.

WP8 – N51° 35.518 W001° 14.322 – At this location you require the second digit of the sub station number (the croft XYZZ) to give you H.
