This is a lenticular pony truss bridge, which was invented in the 1840's and became one of the most popular bridge designs in the latter half of the 19th century. Despite the fact that many hundreds of these bridges were built, it is estimated that only 50 lenticular truss bridges remain nationwide and a small percentage of these still carry traffic. This is one of the few.

This cache is two milestones for me. It's my first one in an Altoids tin and I learned what lenticular means.

There is no parking on the bridge, or on Bear Swamp Rd. Parking is available a small turnout a few hundred feet north of he bridge on Route 202.

This is an active bridge, so please be alert while searching!!!!!
