Start your hike from the Artist Point parking lot and take the
Chain Lakes Trail to access the Ptarmigan Ridge Trail. A Northwest
Forest Pass is required to park at Artist Point. Near Coleman
Pinnacle, turn left (@ 48 49.039N; 121 44.513W) down an
unmaintained trail toward a beautiful alpine lake. Once you go off
the main trail, start following your GPSr and geosense.
Remember you are in mountain goat country – that means it can be
rocky and steep. Please be careful hiking.
My dad and I saw marmots, ptarmigan, and 53 mountain goats
during our trip to hide this one. Binoculars and a spotting scope
are highly recommended if you wish to find as many mountain goats
as we did. Please post some pictures because I love the views up
and down this entire trail.
