Geocache Description:

Summary

Carpinteria is simply underdeveloped in terms of cache density. There is so much cool up here and so few smileys to encourage others to come linger.

Description

I came up to Carpinteria this afternoon to grab some coffee at a nearby shop and basically wander around and spread around some smileymaker love to encourage others to come up here.  My family and I come here regularly after church or anytime really...to soak up this beachy town's local culture.  Anyways, enough gushing.

This cache celebrates Carpinteria's landmark number 1 - the Waldholme Torrey Pine which is in fact the world's largest Torrey pine, for what it's worth.  Interesting facts about this tree - it's 126 feet tall and actually wider than that with a 130 foot span.  I'm sure it will be a bit larger than that when you come by...but it should be in th ballpark.

For more history about the tree, check out this great summary at our sister site Waymarking.com listing HERE.
