The cache is hidden on the plateau of Bokor national Park in Kampot Province of Cambodia. Enquiries, how to reach the entrance of the National Park, can be obtained from Guide books or “Little Garden Bar” in Kampot town. From the entrance of the park it’s a 34 km car ride up to the plateau of Bokor where the geocache is hidden. The habitat where the cache is hidden consists of dwarf montane evergreen forest, wetlands, ferns and shrub (see photos).
The cache is a round transparent 5 litre container with a mint green colour plastic cover (see photos). It contains a, Khmer game, cigarette lighter, Tiger balm, AA batteries, shampoo & toothbrush set, a notebook to record the experiences of geocachers/visitors, and a disposable camera to take a picture of the geocache team. Please keep the last two items in the container!
Once you reach the first coordinate you will have to calculate the next one. Count the number of steps (of the staircase) to the main entrance of the ruined building in front of you.
How to calculate the new Y2 (Northing) coordinate:
Multiply the number of steps by 10 and add 13. Add the sum to the (3) decimals of the minutes of the Northing.
How to calculate the new X2 (Easting) coordinate:
Multiply the number of steps by 13 and add 10. Deduct the sum from the (3) decimals of the Minutes of the Easting.
Example: If number of steps is 10
N (10x10)=100+13=113 becomes +0.113´
E (10x13)=130+10=140 becomes -0.140´
Enter this new coordinate in your GPS. It will lead you to the final location of “Bokor Hill Station” geocache. Once again, only follow the existing footpaths. No need to go cross country!
