Since the Station Fire of 2009, this is as far as the rebuilt trail goes into beautiful Cooks Canyon as of October 2010. From the Deukmejian Park parking lot, this is only about a 15-20 minute walk and is only about 1 mile one way from your car. You'll enjoy the sound of the stream while finding the cache.
From the parking lot, head north to the marked trailhead. Follow the trail and your GPS up the hill and then down into Cooks Canyon.
Reception can be a bit spotty so bring the spoiler clue.
Come hear the year round stream and see how the terrain is recovering from the 2009 Station Fire.
This is a short, beautiful hike and very kid friendly. You're looking for a cammo'd plastic jar that has plenty of tradeables.
There is poison oak in the vicinity but EASILY avoidable if you just stay on the trail. Please rehide the cache well as this cache is right next to the trail.
As always, be on the lookout for poison oak, ticks, rattlesnakes, coyotes, etc.
