Geocache Description:

This cache was created to honor the Word Police.
The cache is bigger than a micro, smaller than a regular, and actually conatains a pen.

AS OF 7/26/04, FINDING "ALOT" IN LOGS OR CACHE PAGES IS NO LONGER REQUIRED TO LOG THIS CACHE. ONLY FINDING THE CACHE IS REQUIRED. BUT YOU MAY STILL CITE EXAMPLES IN YOUR LOG IF YOU WISH.

THE ORIGINAL RULES (WHICH NO LONGER APPLY) WERE AS FOLLOWS:

To learn about the Word Police, check out Word Police Quiz and Apostrophe by The Rat. Those caches were the inspiration for this cache.

The Rat's Word Police caches reminded me of one of my own pet peeves:
* "Alot" is NOT a word. *
But I do see that four letter concoction a lot in Geocaching logs and other places.

So here's how to log this cache:
  1. Find the cache and sign the log. (To help you remember the proper useage, I have placed the cache in a lot. There is not a lot of stuff in the cache, but there are a few goodies and plenty of pens. The logsheet is small, so there's not a lot of room for signing.)
  2. When you log your find on this page, you must cut and paste an "alot" misuse from another cache page or log. In your log, you must include the cache name and clearly identify the log date or paragraph from the main text. You do NOT have to identify the name of the offending geocacher as long as the quote can be easily located when I check it.
Caveats:
  1. The offending cache or cache log must be a cache within 25 miles of this one.
  2. You may NOT cite your own cache pages or own logs.
  3. Bonus points for the first person to find one of my offfenses.
  4. You also may not use an example that is already on this page - either in the text or someone else's log. But you may use another example from a previously used cache page.
  5. Failure to include the example and cite will result in your log being deleted without notification.
  6. Include a description or photo of a sign or other public "alot" misuse if you wish, but you still must include the offending clip from another cache page.
  7. My intent is to have some friendly FUN with this cache, not to offend anyone. When posting, please do so in the spirit of fun and respect. A lot of these "alots" are probably merely the result of typos after all. :-)
