Geocache Description:

This cache can be found along a spur off of the Nature Trail at the Scuppernong trail area. We hiked the nature trail today and the Jr. Cachers of Catan had such a blast climbing around on the ruins of the building where they used to mine the marl. We thought this was the perfect place for a cache. The cache itself is not hidden on the ruins but in the woods just beyond it, so hopefully it won't get muggled. While you're there, you might want to follow the trail just a little farther to check out the marl pits (also an EarthCache if you're interested) and the beautiful spring water that flows under the bridge there. You are looking for an ammo can so there's lots of room for tradies. This spring we were all set to go to the WGA campout but because my daughter got very sick we couldn't go. I had painted this ammo can with glow-in-the-dark paint for the occasion and then didn't get to use it. So if you manage to find this cache before our next big rain it may glow in the dark for you. That might come in handy if any FTFers head out there during the night! Kettle Moraine State Forest—Southern Unit The Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is 30 miles long, extending from the village of Dousman, Wisconsin, almost to the city of Whitewater. Forest Headquarters is 3 miles west of the village of Eagle on State Highway 59. Please note that the parking lot listed is part of the area that you need to pay the State Park entrance fee. A park pass can be purchased right across the street. It is $25 for an annual sticker or $5 for an hour. There are other choices as well so before your visit check out the fee schedule here: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/fees/ This park was created to preserve and showcase the abundant topographical features in this area. In this park you will see many Drumlins (this is what the park is most known for), Eskers, Kettles, Kames and more. Visitors to the park will find many things to occupy their time. There are many hiking, horse-back riding and biking trails. There are Picnic areas and campgrounds with a swimming beach. In the winter you can cross-country ski. Visitors may hunt and fish, according to the permits. There are historic sites to visit and nature programs to attend. There are many recreational opportunities, the best of which may be that there are lots of geocaches in the area! Congratulations to SEVENCARDS for being the FTF! Notification of this cache placement was given to the Kettle Moraine State Park on 9/4/11.
