Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines, Last Updated: February 17, 2015 - #6. Event Caches. "An event is a gathering of geocachers, facilitating the social aspects of geocaching." A party celebrating a special event and inviting friends and relatives, many of whom are geocachers, sounds like quite an event! "Event listings may request donations" ("or charge a fee to cover legitimate costs of the event.") No, I would not change anyone to come to a party/event! But we also are not expecting gifts. If, and only if, anyone feels so inclined, a tote will be available and marked for foods to be donated to the Food Bank in Eagle River.
This is a social event because geocachers often enjoy just getting together to share fun or exciting caching news and new or just found interesting caches. The park has three metal picnic tables with benches, and a pavilion, which I have rented for the afternoon. Please consider bringing your own outdoor chair! A three-hour event is a long time to have to stand around, even though we have some interesting activities planned. (As in GPS games.)
AGENDA: given above. FURNISHED: paper plates, plastic picnicware, paper towels. SERVING: Cake, cookies, outdoor snacks, iced cooler with pop and juice.
Playground with swings, etc., nearby caches, other interesting cache games, trees to climb, a big field for kicking a ball, general visiting, etc. DRAWINGS, group pictures - you might want your GPS.
