A cache located on the Lac Des Arcs Waterfowl Viewing Trail.
Eastbound cachers!!! Drive two more kilometers to the next exit and
drive back on the correct side of the highway.
This cache was placed on a beautiful sunny afternoon while
hiking the trail with our dog. Lac Des Arcs is a stopping point for
many waterfowl and at the time of hiding it was migration season
for Tundra Swans. You can see all sorts of birds from the 'hides'
along the trail. It's not uncommon to spot an eagle and there are
always ducks and geese in the area. What else have I seen? How
about helicopters, Windsurfers on skates, kite surfers,
canoeists...but that's another cache.
The wind can get pretty stong in the area...yes this cache can
really blow. As soon as you leave the parking area and head into
the trees you are protected from the elements and the busy highway.
Lac Des Arcs or Lake of the Bows was named in 1858. In the winter
when water levels dropped, the bottom of the lake was revealed and
the winds would whip up dust storms. In 1988 a dike and inlet and
outlet structures were created to control water levels. Read more
