Geocache Description:

Fawley is one of the richest parishes in the country with the Esso oil refinery and its associated industries, and the electricity generating station.

This cache has full permission from the vicar. For those who aren't keen on graveyard caches, this cache is placed near to the resting place of Bob from Team Tate who was tragically killed on 5th April 2006. As you walk by the wall next to the field pass on a friendly greeting to Bob who would love to know that people are still visiting his cache.

All Saints, Fawley is a parish of great contrast. It has Bronze Age barrows, Roman remains and the old Roman road at Holbury and Stone Point, which was the landing point of the Saxons when they came from the Isle of Wight. Calshot Castle built about 1550 from the stones of Beaulieu Abbey.

The stone Norman church contains a replica of a "long boat" used by the inhabitants from Tristan da Cunha, which they presented to the locality as a token of their gratitude for their reception when their island was partially destroyed by a volcano.

This cache was initially placed for a feature broadcast on BBC Radio 4's programme 'You and Yours', which was recorded on 17/7/03, and transmitted on 31/7/03. A copy is available to download from Team Tate's website.

Permission has been granted for the placement of this cache by the parish vicar, Barry James, to whom Team Tate are most grateful. Please respect the churchyard and it's inhabitants - keep dogs tied up outside and children on a lead! Good Luck!
