Warminster Community Library
This is the 12th in a series of caches to commemorate our towns 300th Anniversary: 1711-2011. Our Tricentennial Committee sponsored a Township wide geocache hunt which was held in May 2011. Warminster Township has asked to have a geocache event in Fall 2012 in conjunction with planting another 300 trees in the Warminster Community Park - stay tuned.
.
Short History of the Area
Warminster Township Free Library is an important community asset and resource. The Library is part of the Bucks County Free Library Network (www.buckslib.org).
.
The Warminster Township Free Library direct service area is Warminster Township and Ivyland Borough, which have a combined population of over 35,000. It is also used by the residents of neighboring municipalities that do not have their own library facilities. The Library offers a number of programs for adults as well as children, from infants to teens, such as preschool programs and book discussion groups. Our electronic library is available 24/7 at www.buckslib.org, where you will find our catalog, program listings, calendar, and a variety of web research databases.
.
The Warminster Community Library is one of the Warminster Township owned facilities which our residents use on a regular basis. It is run by an independent board of residents and it’s operations are partially funded by Bucks County, and its Free Library Network.
.
Like with the Senior Center, the Library just didn’t happen overnight. It took the efforts of many, many residents over a long period to make it a reality. A Federated Women's Club of Warminster committee chaired by present librarian Caroline Gallis opened Warminster's Free Library on Saturday December 1, 1962 in a room of the 1st township building with 4,500 donated books. The present library opened in 1977.
.
In October 2011, the library will be hosting a Children’s Costume Party & Magic Show at the Library as part of the Tricentennial celebrations.
.
Geocache
The cache is small shiny silver capsule in a spot away from the library. Bring gloves to protect from possible ivy poison, and a pen/pencil. Please replace container in same spot. See photo if you need a hint.
.
There are places to park off street. Aside from the muggle factor it should be a very easy C&D.
.
Good Luck.
