Geocache Description:

For their tomorrow

On 31 January 1944, Halifax bomber DK185 crashed into the hillside above Ilkley. All seven crew on board were killed.

A memorial erected in 2006 by a school friend of one of the crew marks the spot where the aircraft crashed. On it a plaque lists the names of the airmen and concludes with the following lines:

When you go home, tell them of us and say,
for their tomorrow we gave our today.

This cache, placed on Battle of Britain Sunday 2006, is our contribution to telling their story. Inside the cache are pictures and notes telling more about DK185 and its airmen.
