Geocache Description:

THIS EVENT IS OPENED TO ALL GEOCACHERS....COME AND ENJOY THE DAY IN ALLENTOWN PA

What better way is there to celebrate the start of fall than to have a fall picnic. The Lehigh Valley GeoCachers will host this fall event ………

Date: Sunday September 26 2004

Time: 12:00 to ?????????? (we have to be out by dusk)

Place: Pavilion # 3 located in Cedar Beach West. Parking is on Honochick St. The above coordinates are for the parking area right in front of the pavilion.

It will be a bring your own picnic basket of food and drinks as this will free up everyone’s time so they can cache and chat.

There will be new permanent caches placed for this event and there are several old ones in the area. Any one deciding on placing a permanent cache please be aware of the caches already there and plan accordingly by the caching rules for distance. Also so we don’t put them in the same area, let me know of your intent of placement. E-mail me of the general area, not the coordinates. This park extends from Cedar Crest Ave to 22nd Street, so there is a lot of room.

Looking for donations for the Chinese Auction. Five free tickets will be given to anyone who donates. Please let me know ahead of time what you will be donating so I can make up the bags for placing the tickets in. Will be selling tickets 10 for $1.00 For those not knowing what a Chinese Auction is, is it where you buy tickets and place as many tickets as you wish in a container that is in front of the item you hope to win. The more tickets you place in the container the greater chance of winning. Any type of items can be donated, related to caching or not.

I will also be collecting $1.00 from each adult (children free) to help cover the cost of the pavilion. If any money is left over it will go towards next years event.

Any travel bugs for trade, please log on before the event.

SEE YOU IN THE FALL

Update: 8/14/04 Dogs are permitted in this park on leash only. I explained what a chinese auction is above.

Update: 9/06/04 This event WILL be held rain or shine....come on now...cachers are not a brunch of wimps!

Update: 9/22/04 There are 6 new caches waiting to be found on picnic day. Details of caches will either be approved that day and on line(so check before you leave) or papers will be handed out at the picnic with the details, waiting for approval. Those of you who have placed the caches, please bring the info along in case the cache was not approved by picnic time. Looks like we are going to have great weather!!!!! Don't forget to let me know what you are donating to the chinese auction so I can get things done ahead of time, so I can have more time to play too.
