Geocache Description:

Congratulations to Bobb616 for FTF!

You will need to bring your own pen. You can park in the church parking lot nearby. If you are geocaching at night, bring a flashlight. Please be respectful of the Amish, watch out for horse and buggies, road apples, and remember that they do not like to be photographed.

Please do not go on private property to look for this cache. You will NOT have to leave the road surface.

My wife and I grew up in Lancaster County and over the years we got used to all the different smells the farmers in the area had to offer. We came back to visit family about 10 years ago when son Kyle was about 5 years old. He was sitting in the back seat and we were talking and all of a sudden he yells "WHAT'S THAT SMELL??" At first we didn't even realize the farmer had been spreading manure and even though we had moved away years earlier, it was a smell we just got used to and never even thought about. So, Karen said "well Kyle, that would be called manure". We moved back to the area in 2009 and now live about half mile from this location. When you get to the cache, breathe deep, look around you to the left and you can see two Amish farms within view of the cache, and there are several other farms within a mile of GZ. You might even get a whiff of what we smell from our house when the windows are open at night. If you continue on down the road from the cache, you will arrive at a covered bridge that has a geocache in it. I placed this cache at this location so if you want to see a part of Lancaster County that have Amish and covered bridges but you don't want to be in the tourist trap areas, this is a nice relaxing drive to Amish country. You will need to bring your own pen. There is parking at the River Bretheren church/school parking lot nearby. If you are geocaching at night, bring a flashlight.
