Update! RickBlick has extended an invitation to anyone attending
this event to join him at
The Kelly Club in Weston after the event. Let's help Rick
celebrate his (belated) birthday and drain the quarter barrel he
won a few weeks ago.
This is a social event to compare geocaching
notes, share some food, tell stories and enjoy the company of
fellow cachers. Team Black-Cat will provide hot dogs, buns, catsup
etc for the group along with chips, plates and napkins. Any pot
luck type item(s) that you bring would be greatly appreciated and
everyone please bring your own beverages and chairs. Marathon Park
does allow alcoholic beverages if you so choose.
We will be at shelter #1, which is just east of
the main entrance to the park. The event is scheduled to begin at
1:00 PM, but you are welcome to show up earlier if you like. The
grill will be fired up at 3:00, and the food will be available
shortly after that.
This event is an opportunity to catch up with
some old friends and make some new ones. For those not from the
area - it is a good opportunity to pick up some great local
caches. Be prepared to chat about your caching adventures;
bring your travel bugs and geo coins to swap or show; and/or bring
a supply of your signature items to trade or give away. We will
have some puzzles and games as entertainment for the young and the
young-at-heart cachers (anything additional would be
appreciated).
During the event, drawings will be made from the
log entries. Prizes to be given away include several uncirculated
geo coins, as well as other geocaching related items.
Several new caches will be released the day of
the event by local cachers.
This event officially ends at 6:00 PM, but you
are free to stick around as long as you wish.
The original idea was to have multiple "flash
mob" events this day but this didn't meet the event
guidelines. If enough are interested, we would still like to
incorporate one or more flash mob "events" as part of this meet and
greet. Please indicate your interest in your will attend
log.
