To find this cache you will need a compass, or a compass function on your GPSr. A calculator may be helpful. From the Blue Ridge Trailhead at N42° 38.768 / W108° 52.063, you can park and hike up Road #306 to the fire watch tower, or you may drive a High Clearance Vehicle. At 0.61 miles a long red stake marks a Y intersection. Bear right, and you will pass a dead tree on your right side. Remember this tree. One tenth mile past the red stake, locate a short sign at the base of the fire watch tower showing the year it was built -- this year is the number A. Climb the stairs to the top of the watch tower, counting the number of steps past the "Climb at Your Own Risk" sign -- this number is B. After enjoying the view, count the number of metal stakes or pipes cemented into the top of the watch tower -- this number is C. Take the integer of the quotient of A and B. Multiply this number by 2C The result is the magnetic bearing from the dead tree. Measure a distance of 78 paces on this bearing to locate the cache in an ammo box at the base of a tree.
