The shortest access is via Cold Springs road, next is by Gold
Mine road. The road to Cold Springs is partially dirt and a little
rocky with drainage ruts, but my (Snarfel's) small Nissan had no
problems. From there it is an easy hike or mountain bike up the
mountain where you bear right at the rail bed. From Gold Mine road
it is a simple, albeit longer, park and follow the rail bed
directly to the cache site.
This is my (Snarfel's) first cache and was placed the weekend of
my first cache find. I hope you will enjoy the area, which
includes: a bridge
ruin, foundations of an old town, the town's
cemetery, and a collapsed mineshaft. Hunt for the Ghost
Town Cemetery and Ghost
Town Cache while you are in the area, the latter contains a
nice written history of the abandoned town.
The cache is an small ammo can with trading items for kids. Take
something, leave something. Sign the book, take a picture. You know
the routine. Hope you like my (Snarfel's) unique location. Please
supervise children when approaching the cache area as there are
potential hazards.
03/16/09 - Cache was adopted by DocDiTTo. Thanks
Lux!
07/02/06 - Cache container was replaced by Lux with the help
of DocDiTTo!
05/27/02 - Cache is still there. Area is very pretty this
time of year. --Snarfel
