A micro cache in a downtown Anchorage location that is diligently watched by Captain James Cook. He can keep a secret and won't tell anyone where it is. Can you find it?
Enjoy the view. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Susitna (Sleeping Lady) as well as the Aleutian, Alaska, and Talkeetna mountain chains. Two volcanos are visible - Mt. Spurr is the closest at 79 miles away and Mt. Redoubt can often be seen. The highest peak in North America - Mt. McKinley - can also be viewed from here. Cook Inlet spreads out before you, constantly on the move with extreme tidal changes. Take a close look at those muddy waters. Sometimes, beluga whales can be spotted as they feed on returning salmon runs. Various shorebirds feed on the mudflats to fuel up for their long migratory flight.
You'll have to be careful as this MICRO cache (a 35mm film cannister) is located in a busy tourist spot. Discretion is advised as you hunt for and then examine the contents of this cache. There isn't much room inside so keep that in mind if you bring something to exchange. You'll find some log in sheets as well as a few tiny pencil points to write with, and a few varied trinkets. You might want to bring your own pen or pencil - those pencil points are REALLY tiny. If it is a windy day, don't let things blow away - and be careful not to drop anything because you might not be able to retrieve it when it slips through the cracks.
You could ask the Captain for a hint, but as of yet, he hasn't breathed a word to anyone.
