Visit the West End Overlook, the little-known cousin of the popular scenic overlooks along Mount Washington. If you haven't been there in many years, check it out as the area received a thorough reconstruction! There, you will find a rather unspectacular microcache in a spectacular location.
In my opinion, the West End Overlook provides the best view of the Pittsburgh skyline because you are looking at the 'Point' straight-on. It sees less traffic than the more popular Mount Washington overlooks, because it is difficult to reach. Take the West End Bridge or Route 51 to the West End Circle, and in the circle exit right onto Steuben Street. Then go up, up, up by following the signs for the West End Overlook.
When you reach the cache area, there is ample free parking in a paved lot and turnaround circle. A microcache is hidden right at the beginning archway along the path to the overlook, so you can find it in relative privacy away from the folks admiring the view. You are looking for a bison capsule that needs to be replaced with the top facing outwards.
A micro sometimes turns into a "needle in a haystack" hunt, and this area has lots of muggles, including the neighbors whose houses border on the overlook's parking lot. Be stealthy! I want people to enjoy the view, not feel like it's a chore to make repeat visits to find a micro. Therefore, the encrypted hint is a total spoiler. Search for as long as you wish, then give in.
