Hello Again Cachers!!
While caching in Florida during GeoWoodstock III, I came
across a very unique item. It had a label on it saying
"Seismic Monitoring Station". This device sparked my
curiosity and prompted me to do a little research. I found a
web page that shows worldwide seismic activity (Seismic
Monitor).
Low and behold,
I found one of these monitoring stations very near to my house. I'm
really not sure what this thing actually does, but I just had to
let everyone take a peek for themselves. I assume this station is
part of the IRIS worldwide monitoring network. You will go to the
above set of coordinates as this is the first stop in a three stage
multi. When you arrive at this location, you will understand just
what you need to do.
Based on the
limited information I can find, there are only two (2) of these
monitoring stations in North Carolina. I could not believe that one
of them is located here in King. If anyone knows the location of
the other station in North Carolina, please let me know. Hope you
enjoy this cache.
