The main entrance to Fremont Older Open Space Preserve is at the
end of Prospect Road. There's a small parking lot, a (smelly)
porta-potty, and two nice trails leading you up into the park. One
row of parking spaces is right next to the green for one of the
holes at the nearby country club. Don't park there unless you don't
care about golf balls raining down on your vehicle.
The cache is placed along the original path into the preserve.
Years back, this was the only way in, and you used to have to dodge
speeding mountain bikes coming down as you walked up. Nowadays
there's a nice new single track trail that bikes must use, and the
original trail is reserved for foot traffic, both human and
equestrian. So if you ride your bike up into the area (a wonderful
idea -- this is a great place for riding), you'll need to park it a
very short distance down the road. I wouldn't recommend walking
your bike up to the cache location, as it would attract attention,
and you really don't need any attention while you're searching for
the cache.
No climbing or bushwhacking is required to reach the cache.
Poison Oak is rumored to be moving into the area, so be
careful. If muggles are present, some stealth will be
required.
