A 1.3-mile trail takes you through the area. Do not forget your
camera and rain gear. From Falls City this is a thirty-mile,
two-hour drive, one way. Once at the site, GPS can be poor so a few
hints are needed to find the cache: Start at the North edge of the
parking lot and hike down the road 64 feet. Turn right and walk in
22 feet from the edge of the road and then start looking. For more
information on Valley of the Giants go to:
this site.
Make no mistake; this is a long trip into the bush. Bring the
ten essentials
gear,
also food, water, and extra clothing. Tell someone where you are
going and when you expect to be back. Stay on traveled roads and
watch for log trucks during the workweek. With the waypoints below
you should have no trouble going in or coming out. When you get to
a wye in the road, look to where the next waypoint is and choose
the road that will take you there. While driving in to the cache
site, remember to save a waypoint several hundred feet before a wye
in the road. These waypoints will assist your decisions on the way
out. There are only a few decision points on the way out.
