Welcome to Tudor Hall, claimed by many as the birthplace of Shakespearian theater in America, and country retreat by actor Junius Brutus Booth, considered one of the greatest actors of the 19th century.
Junius originally owned a log house here but unfortunately died before the now present Hall was completed.
A larger-than-life character, Junius was the father of both Edwin and John Wilkes Booth. Both boys spent many hours on these grounds. Junius spurred Edwin and John to strive, as rivals, for the achievement and acclaim he had earned himself. While Edwin eventually became a worldwide success on stage, John unfortunately went on to commit one of the most infamous acts in our nation’s history – the assassination of President Lincoln. Ironically Edwin had saved Lincoln’s son Robert from serious injury on a train platform in New Jersey just months before John’s treacherous act.
The cache you seek here is on the garden grounds of Tudor Hall. After searching for the cache, please take time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and visit the Hall. It currently houses the Center for the Arts, and there you can find information on a variety of local shows, exhibits, etc.
