If I did my alignment correctly, you're right on the state line.
With as many times as we've driven by this unassuming cattle guard, you'd think we'd have placed a cache here already! Or that someone else would have taken advantage of the pull off to place a cache in the null zone between two states... especially when the line varies from one map to another as much as this one does!
To the north, you'll see two signs on either side of the highway. Just south of you is a white post that lines up with those two signs. The cache lies on that line.
One foot east, Welcome to Nevada! One foot west, Welcome to California!!
The best part is if you look south anywhere along this road, you'll see a very high peak with another peak just east of it. Both are above 13,000 feet (well above the tree line as is easily seen). The one on the right (west) is Mount Montgomery, the one of the left (east) is Boundary Peak. In the saddle between them lies the state line. Imagine being part of the original survey team and HIKING that line *straight up*! eek
