MMT#21 Göteborgs fiskhamn


Gothenburg fishharbour and auction center.






There are about 68 in the MMT# series and as they are growing in numbers there is a " MMT# series challenge" to take all check the Bookmark list to the right or click here for your score !!! Just note in the log how many you have managed to take

Take it easy and visit the place best after working hours as there are a lot of mugglers around
The place is very good for birdwatching as well. (Not girls!)

In the earlier days when the city grow the fishermen had to sail into the fortified city and sell their fish directly to the city ladies from the boat in the channels.
The oldest tradingspot "The fishing bridge" were just by the German church. The smell in the summer were not so nice and the trade had to move to a place by the present "Fish church" and they used the cold storage in the wall chambers of the fortificaction to keep the fish fresh.
The "Feskekôrka" were build in 1874 and this gave the population in and outside the city a central place to buy the fish .
The population in the city grow and a new tradingspot were build here 1910 in the old warf area.
The boats could now unload early in the morning and go out again.
Now 100 years later only about 30 fishingboats unload per day. Most fish comes in cold store lorries but the trade is as usual early in the morning and you are wellcome to make a visit to the auction.
When I'm out caching I carry a supply of replacement log sheets so that I can help out the cache owner by carrying out any maintenance that's required.

If anybody would like to replace any logs that need urgent servicing in my caches, please do so.
