Mr Tumnus Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

spindlewood: After the disturbing log from the last cacher to find this cache, we went to see if the cache was still ok. We were surprised to find the lamp container and its ‘cut’ hoisting cord placed neatly at the base of the tree. A further surprise was that the inner container and its contents were still intact.
We concluded that the ‘unimpressed landowner and his game keeper’ had left an indication that they would like the cache to be removed. So we have complied and also archived the cache, to prevent further problems.

Amongst the cache contents we found the ‘Reddeeps – Big Ben Geocoin’ which we have moved to pastures new.

Geocache Description:

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tumnus." "I am very pleased to meet you, Mr Tumnus" said Lucy. "And may I ask, O Lucy Daughter of Eve," said Mr Tumnus, "how you have come into Narnia?"

If you are to meet Mr Tumnus then you must bring yourself to Hart's Wood near the Norfolk village of Little Massingham. There the wide verges will provide ample space to leave your transport for a while as you make your way on a gentle 3 km footpath ramble. From Hart's Wood head west for 150m then turn north-northwest along the Peddars Way. This ancient trackway and Roman Road will lead you to a stone table which will provide the answers to lead you to woods where Mr Tumnus lives. Should defensive nettles bar your way, approach the cache from the east, look for the ‘blue poly pipe snake’ then enter at that point. Having met Mr Tumnus follow the footpath which will lead you back to Hart's Wood.

Now how will you know when you have reached the right spot to meet Mr Tumnus? Cast your mind back to a distant bedroom, blankets pulled round your chin, the feel of soft flannelette, moonlight glinting through the frost crazed panes, the aftertaste of Ovalteen and that gentle voice reading "Suddenly the Witch stepped out towards the Lion. It was coming on, always singing, with a slow, heavy pace. It was only twelve yards away. She raised her arm and flung the iron bar straight at its head. The bar struck the Lion fair between the eyes. It glanced off and fell with a thud in the grass. The Lion came on. Though its soft pads made no noise, you could feel the earth shake beneath their weight.
