Geocache Description:

An easy walk through Loamhole Dingle in Coalbrookdale, near the famous Ironbridge Gorge. Terrain rating reflects that there are several steps and the cache isn't that easy to retrieve (might be worth taking an old carrier bag to kneel on).

Parking can be found near N52°38.420, W002°29.586, in the car park of The Museum of Iron during their opening times, or on nearby streets. Please take time to look around the Old Furnaces in the large triangular building, it is free to enter and is well worth a visit.

Loamhole Dingle was once a source of timber to make charcoal for the old furnaces. Today the steep-sided dingle with its shady, water-loving alder trees and pendulous sedge is home to a rare species of cranefly that lives in the rotting wood beside the stream. Walk quietly through the woodland and you may be lucky enough to see and hear the dingle wildlife. The beginning of the trail starts near N52°38.491, W002°29.595


TH£ GRAND CACHE got its name to celebrate our 1000th cache find. You are looking for a sandwich box containing £1000 worth of geo-cash to share amongst our fellow cachers! (Please don't be too greedy and leave some for the others .)

We decided to place the cache here as it is very close to the first cache that we found, Alchemy Quest - Carbon, and as it is such a beautiful place, we became hooked on this fantastic addiction right from the start. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
